Hobbiton & Te Puia Te Pō Day Tour From Rotorua

Take a guided tour of the famous Hobbiton Movie Set, located inside a picturesque 1,250 acre sheep and beef farm near Matamata. Here, the village of Hobbiton was carefully created in amazing detail as a film location for the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movie trilogies. During your guided tour of this amazing location you’ll see sights like Hobbit holes, the Mill and the Green Dragon Inn, and learn how farmland was transformed into a living, breathing piece of Middle-earth. After exploring Hobbiton, tuck into a refreshing beverage at the Green Dragon Inn.

You will be dropped back in Rotorua around 2.30pm, where you will have an hour to relax, rest your feet and charge your camera before the Te Puia shuttle comes to collect you around 3.30pm.

The Te Pō Indigenous Experience begins with a mouth-watering buffet at the Pātaka Kai Restaurant, Bar, and Cafe. With locally sourced cuisine and an authentic Māori twist in each dish, the buffet is guaranteed to be a highlight of the evening. Following this, you will be led to view an exhilarating cultural performance that takes place in the beautifully carved meeting house, Te Aronui a Rua. It will include a Pōhiri (Traditional Māori Welcome), Waiata (Song), Mōteatea (traditional chant), Poi, and Haka.

Afterward, enter the geothermal valley on the waka (electric shuttle) and discover one of New Zealand’s most magnificent geothermal wonderlands – featuring dramatic geysers, bubbling mud, and beautiful native bush. Enjoy a hot chocolate, seated on a naturally heated rock terrace overlooking the powerful Pōhutu Geyser. After a wonderful evening at Te Puia, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
